Holding Your Hand

I remember
that kiss
to your lips
as the light of life
left your eyes

once

so bright
they always
seemed to be
when you smiled
such uplift
your face became

capturing

my heart
which will remain
in the dormant state
of winter
with the blankness
of whiteness
covering up
many tears
of sorrow

timeless

are the first
pin-pricks
of pain
deep inside skin
hidden
the emotions
that I feel
by your side
holding your hand
whilst inhaling
exhalation
of final breath

I shall be
taking your spirit
to all of the places
that you so wanted
to see
