Literature Text

wandering
do my eyes roam
the moving paths
with motion in people

wondering
why the movement
does not seem
to notice
or pause
at the sight
in such brave
little eyes

trying
to hold back the tears
behind a nonchalant smile

looking
all around
observation
it can be a key

where upon a door
probably used by now
to being kept closed

may
somehow
still open

it's easy
for me to see now
the signs I used to wear
within an unclear mirror
that hurt upon reflection

for I too
had those sad little eyes
not so long ago
where my heart hurt
with too many beats
marking its flow

it can be hard
to understand
I suppose
how not all prisons
are cells with bars

or how
in the time of silence
hours can weigh so heavily
with no one to call 'friend'

I remember
all those times
days upon days
hidden inside
listening to sounds
from a world
where I felt
I did not belong

because it didn't want me

I had to find
something
within myself
something
that made me feel
like living
where I knew
such beauty believed
in a summer day
where the sound of birds
upon cool breeze
made me feel free
beneath the swaying branches
where trees
thanked me for the gifts
I learned how to make

that was a different time
not so very long ago
where people walking on by
started to show
they smiled at the faces
that bobbed and danced
on the wind

some
even said: 'hello'

was it a happy ending?

well
all I can say
is that
many different smiles
made by unknown hands
now dance and play
upon the wind
under shades of green
that glow
twinkle
with homemade glitter
sparkling in the summer sun

as for the eyes
that try to hold back tears

perhaps
it's time
that a secret
should be shared

a tale of many smiles
that now dance
with the wind
I wrote a poem a couple of years ago, which looked at the theme of bullying:

Something Worth SavingDays remain the same
pushed and shoved
narrow corridors
lined
with unwelcome faces
that don't ever smile
.....
Books clasped to chest
finger-prints digging in
quick walk steps
a soft patter
lost in the echoes
of pointless chatter
....
I appear somewhat unreal
cardigan sleeves
hiding signs of indentations
that have stopped bleeding
but still hurt
when I flex
weak muscles
...
Formulation
in specific events
define days
broken up into sections
with differing circles of hell
(discoursed words)
(pushes and pulls)
(trips that fall)
(anger that spreads)
(contempt-filled eyes)
(mouth's that whisper)
(unkind words)
..
At the sound
of day's end bell
a quick escape
is all I need
to be in a place
far from anybody
where I can be me
under boughs of summer trees
plastic wires dangle
holding up my creativity
homemade hearts and stars
with faces that smile
.
Perhaps
there's something
worth saving
inside me
after all

Ever since I wrote the poem, I have often went back to its words,  far more than the many other works I have created. I'm not sure what I was looking for exactly.

Perhaps something else needed to be said? Did the person turn out okay?

I wasn't too sure, until this evening...when I wanted to have another look at the nature of creativity and friendship.

Why some people don't have friends. And how that can affect a life.

"Under Shades of Green" is a visit back to the person featured in "Something Worth Saving".

A little bit older now...perhaps wiser, too.

Thoughts are always welcome

What a deeply evocative, emotive and touching words...words that spoke to me so loudly and yet in the silent crevices of my heart, touching it all so gently and making me write this comment!!:rose:

Most beautiful poem, Dreamlight!
