Why Tears Are Born

unwavering ways
that a tear
from orbit of eye
trickles so far
over contours
of skin
built from cells
that defines
the way in which
you are seen

what mastery of word
or perhaps emotion
or something seen
or heard
maybe even read
would bring forth
this tear
you shed

could it be
sadness
happiness
joy or fear
self-hate
love
or something
for which
there are no words
to describe
why tears are made

whatever the reason is
you may feel this tear
rolling down your cheek
to trail on apex of chin
growing in importance
expanding
reflecting the light around you
magnifying in stature
the many reasons why
tears are born
